Description:
This lot contains the actual player contract that Bob Gibson signed to play for the St. Louis Cardinals for the 1971 baseball season. Under the terms of this contract, Gibson was to be paid $150,000 to play the 1971 season. Gibson agreed to, and signed this contract on October 16th, 1970 coming off of a Cy Young Award winning season in which he won 23 games, had 274 K's and a 3.12 ERA. The contract has been signed by "Robert Gibson" as well as the Cardinals General Manager and the National League President Charles Feeney. Gibson would retire after the 1975 season and was inducted into the HOF in 1981. Very unique Bob Gibson item and a historical baseball document. |
